Newton Center Residence

Built on a cliff overlooking Newton Center, this home on the Historic Register had all the elegance and grandeur one could hope for. With an expansive mahogany paneled living and quarter sawn oak detailing throughout, the only things missing were modern amenities. The kitchen had been moved to a long narrow back porch, but the original kitchen location was cut off from the rest of the house. The rooms were beautiful, but formal, with nowhere to just kick back and relax. To make it a bit more challenging, the project had to be completed in record time to meet a hard deadline for their expanding family. By reworking the staircases and bathrooms, we were able to create a kitchen worthy of the rest of the home and one that was integrated with the first floor. This solution also gave us the opportunity to create a real master suite upstairs. Extending the back porch out allowed us to create a generous family room that is open to the new kitchen and offers spectacular views. The detailing and craftsmanship are crisp and clean, but traditional in keeping with the lines of the original house. Working hand in hand with Benchmark Builders we were able to coordinate the design and construction process - staying on top of the aggressive schedule to deliver the final product on time. The result is a seamlessly integrated that gives new life and energy to a true classic.
